She shot him an odd look when he started talking about it being kinda nice and that she did not need to stop. It was not an angry look or overly an upset look it was sort of like he had grown a blue nose or something. To top it off her cheeks darkened even more and she finely dropped her head and looked away. Slowly she chewed her sandwich not looking at him again till he started talking. And even then it was only just a glance.

Looking at her partly eaten sandwich she really did not know how to answer the question. Why were they always fighting? Well maybe not fighting it normally consisted of her being pissed off and wanting to hit him because of something he did or said. Although why she took offence to what he said a lot she did not know. Most of it really was not that bad.

“I don’t know,” she finely said. “For some reason you get on my nerves. I like talking to you and all but we just don’t seem to mix that well. Maybe we should just try to avoid each other? Not like it would be overly hard to do that. I mean we are in different houses grades and it’s not like I normally get myself into trouble at least not anymore.”

Although she was saying this she sounded rather glum about it all but what other choice was there if they kept fighting. At least they would get some peace of mind.

He could see her dark cheeks. It seemed a common theme when they were together, When he saw her with other people it wasnt normal for her to blush, but she seemed to do an inordinate amount when he was around. When she suggested they avoid each other he coughed on the sandwiche he was eating.

A-Avoid?....

He took a second to regain his composure.

But I like my nap buddy...and the ride here though painful was not unpleasant.

He sighed. Trying to think.

I mean...I like you.....

Seeing the shocked look on his face she was a bit confused at the same time she had to check herself from not laughing too for he had looked so shocked and had even chocked on his sandwich. She had not thought that he would have reacted as such. A light blush crossed her cheeks at the nap buddy part and she could not help but to laugh at the painful but not unpleasant part of the ride.

“Although it was not all that pleasant either I can tell,” she teased him lightly but the teasing look faded away at his next words.

How did he mean like, like as friends or like as more? She had asked him that one before but he had refused to explain. Biting her bottom lip she looked away again. Thoughts ran though her head as she tried to get things straight.

“But how could you like someone who is always getting mad at you or forcing you to do things that you don’t want to do. I mean how could you really want a friend like that?” she asked raising her eyes to his face before she let them drop again.  “The only logical step is to avoid contact.”

She was right, it wasnt exactly pleasant, but...for him, he supposed it was the company that made it worth the trip. He could tell she was trying to tease him with her words, but her tone shifted as she asked her questions.

Well...maybe...I kinda like that....and need that to get things done. I dont know...I dont understand...and...thats...what makes me want to understand...and not leave.

His words were spaced, as if he were trying to find them upon his tongue as he stood. His usual speech was swift eloquant and educated when he spoke to her, but now...this was uncharted territory.

I dont even know...is if even we are friends...for what I feel when I am with you.

Biting her bottom lip she was unsure of what to say for she just could not see any logic in trying to stay around someone who was rather mean. Then again it was her own fault that she was mean to him but she just go so frustrated with him at times that she just felt like decking him. And that was not healthy behavior. But she had to admit she liked being around him when he was not annoying her.

“I guess wanting to try and understand things is not illogical,” she finely admitted. “One does like to understand things like that.”

Her head snapped up at what he said next looking at him for a moment confusion crossed her face. She could feel her cheeks darkening a little at what he said but she was unsure of how to respond. Dropping her eyes she was feeling confused even more and was not sure what he was trying to say. Was he saying he liked her in another way other than friends? Could he really see her like that? She had been mean and harsh to him most of the time so how could he see her like that?

“Wha…What do you mean? I…I’m sure that friends is even more than what you probably think of me. We have not exactly seen eye to eye on things. And I have never really been that nice to you,” she laughed a little bit although it did not sound all that convincing. “I mean what else could you see me as besides a pushy, mean, annoying, stuck-up, know-it-all girl.”

He nodded when she agreed with him that perhaps separating was not the best choice, I mean...despite the whole  yelling at each other thing, mainly her at him. He liked being around her. She was comforting to talk to, when he did talk, and well...she was his nap buddy, maybe more. He didnt know. It was all confusing.

I... dont get it either. I...and you...I mean...when I think about the time you kissed me, I dont get angry or nuthin...i mean...I start turning red. And all the times sleeping in your lap, its always really cozy there.... I mean, yea you can be mean...But you dont always see me when I see you, I know your a nice girl.

He really didnt know what more to say. Yea it sounded like he was a stalker, but it was more like he was napping and wasnt noticed.

Upon the mention of the kiss her cheeks darkened and she looked away from him. At the time it had not seemed that big of a deal. I mean she had just wanted to show him what a real kiss was like not just smashing  your lips into someone else’s. Sure some people may taking any sort of connection of the lips as a kiss but she did not. You have to have that in your mind when it happens at least one of you that is. But now it was a bit embarrassing when he reminded her of the fact.

As he kept taking and as he did her face grew darker also with the fact that he had seen her around doing things when she did not know he was there. At first she thought that maybe he had been following her around. But then she had to remind herself of his cat form and the fact that you don’t always notice a cat sleeping somewhere when your not looking for it. Giving a little shrug she was not sure what to say about it all.

“I may be nice at times but it seems those times are not often when I’m around you. But I guess I could try to be a bit nicer,” she admitted looking up a bit shyly. Then as she spoke again her voice changed with a bit of a warning in it. “But don’t expect me to be nice when your being annoying.”

Having finished what she had wanted to eat and feeling this conversation was getting a just a little too emotional for her she stood up. Brushing off her pants she started to pack the rest of the food up.

“I’m going to take Poppin for a bit of a ride around the meadow. You can join me if you want or you could just relax here. I think we should head back once I’m done,” how she spoke was a bit of an order not to be agued with. Although she had given him some choice of what he might want to do. With that said she turned away to head over to where the horses had wandered.

He could see her turning red just like him and it made him feel better that she wasnt as comfy about this as she normally seemed. He flet that this whole thing was old territory for her, espcially how she came up to him and just kissed him out of no where.

Well...I dont think I ever intend to be annoying... I dont know what to call it. You know what Im saying?

Then came a half invite, half order to come. It was horse back riding, so he shifted into his cat form and praddled along the ground beside her, jumpig uptop of poppin, waiting for her to join him. In his cat form riding wouldnt be so bad at all.

“Weather or not  you try to be annoying you still can be,” she said with a look that almost said she did not fully believe he did not try to be annoying. But she did not feel like discussing it any more at the moment it would just get more mixed up and complicated.

As she walked towards her horse she saw a streak of orange bound past her and jump up onto Poppin’s back. With a sigh she tapped her foot with her hands on her hips and shook her head.

“See this is a perfect example of you being annoying. You know very well I did not mean for you to ride the same horse as me. I meant if you wanted to ride along with Thomas,” as she spoke she started walking towards her horse again. “But I guess it’s ok.”

Gathering up the rains she grabbed a hold of  the saddle horn and swung herself up into the saddle. “Now I will start out at a slow pace, if I start to get a little too fast for you to hold on just let me know.”

She ruffled the cat’s fur before she nudged Poppin with her hills giving the horse the single to go.

His kitty head titled as she accused him of being annoying. Well, it might have to do with his lack of knowledge in social situations when it came to intergender situations, but he thought it was perfectly acceptable. While in cat form, he technically had no gender, as far as things went that mattered.

He moved in the saddle to sit right in front of her, and placed a paw on her hand, letting her know he was ready to go. He braced himself for the ride, wondering if it would be better for him to sneak into her saddle bags for a nap. When she ruffled against his fur he pushed up against her hand, much like a cat wanting attention.

Nenet could not help but to smile when he pressed his head against her hand when she petted him. Although she knew he was still the same boy it was just a little easier to except him in this form. Even though it really was not that logical it still seemed easier for her at the moment. As Poppin moved around the horse gained speed till they were at a good gallop. It was not a hard one and not a dead run but still a good pace. She did hope that Jarred was not having a problem. Even if he was annoying she did not want him to fall off.

“You doing ok there,” she asked looking down at the cat. There was concern in her voice as she looked at the cat.

Ok, the normal walking he was fine with, but when the horse starting doing this whole jumping thing he was not really ok with. His claw came out and dug into the saddle as his body was lifted up and felt like it was dropped, and it became a swift repetitive motion. He could only imagine what this would feel like in human form, being dropped on your crotch over and over again.

mrrrrrrrrrrrrrroooooooooooooooooooooow

Was his only response as his eyes had become shut. He wished he could just hide in the saddle bag.

After his dramatic meow Nenet decided to slow Poppin down to a nice walk letting the horse cool off even though she really had not put the horse through that much. But it was more to let the cat to get his balance back. If she knew he wanted to ride in the saddle bags she would have advised him that probably would not have been the best idea. He probably would have been bounced around even more than he was now.

“I think we had better head back to Thomas before he thinks we left without him,” turning the horses head to head back to where the other horse was grazing.

“If you wanted to stay the way you are you can. I can just lead Thomas back, unless you wanted to attempt riding again,” even though she thought he should try riding again it was sort of nice having him riding with her.

He sort of curled up against her lap as the horse slowed, hiding his head for a few moments before she started talking. He then poked his head up when she spoke. He tilted his head as he then backed from her and jumped lightly up to her shoulder, being careful not to let out his claws and jumped just behind her. He shifted back to his human form, straddling the horse from behind her.

I think saddle bags might have been a better carrier....and...I think Ill stay here....if thats ok with you.

He looked away when he spoke. It wasnt as if the proximity to her was making him embarrassed or anything, and even if it was he wouldnt admit it.

When he curled up and then hid his head she could not help but laugh. Watching as he jumped lightly on her shoulder and then behind her she was not sure what he was going to do. Maybe he was going to get down from the back? But that did not happen no he was suddenly in his human form and was sitting behind her. She felt her cheeks darken at his declaration of staying where he was at.

“Well you would have had less of a chance of falling off,” she said sounding a bit nervous. “And if you really want to stay th-that’s fine.”

As they neared Thomas Nenet reached down and took a hold of his reins leading the horse along behind them as they started to walk back.

“Y-You might want to hold on to the saddle or m-my waist so that you don’t fall off. With Thomas behind us if you fell that way he might not have time to move and could hit you with his hooves without meaning too.”
